Ben Okri

Ben Okri is a Nigerian poet, novelist and essayist.  Okri is one of the foremost African authors in the post-modern and post -colonial traditions and has been compared favorably to authors such as Salman Rushdie and Gabriel Garcia Marquez.  He is best known for his novel The Famished Road for which he won the Booker Prize.  Since he published his first novel in 1980, Shadow and Flowers,  Okri has risen to  international acclaim, and is regarded as one of Africa’s leading writers.
