Bill Shipsey is an Irish human rights activist, retired barrister, and founder of Art for Human Rights (formerly Art for Amnesty), which uses the power of art to advance human rights globally. A longtime supporter of Amnesty International since 1977, he created the Ambassador of Conscience Award in 2003 and has produced major cultural fundraising initiatives, including Instant Karma. He co-founded Art 19 and also served on the board of The Václav Havel Center from 2017 to 2025. Through his work, he has collaborated with leading artists, musicians, and public figures to support justice and freedom worldwide. He is widely recognized for connecting culture and activism to inspire global social change.
