Claire Keegan is a gifted short-story writer. Her debut collection Antarctica (1998) was awarded the Rooney Prize for Literature. Her works have been widely recognised, Walk the Blue Fields (2007) has won the Edge Hill Prize for Short Stories and her short story Foster won the Davy Byrnes Memorial Prize.
