Erling Kagge is a Norwegian explorer, writer, philosopher and art collector. He has spent his life testing the limits of the physical world and human mind and is the first person in history to reach the North Pole, South Pole and the summit of Mount Everest on foot. Kagge has sailed across the Atlantic twice, rounded Cape Horn, sailed to Antarctica and back, and crossed New York City through its sewage, water and subway tunnels.
In 1996 Kagge founded Kagge Forlag, a publishing house which is today one of Norways leading book publishers. He has written nine books on silence, walking, the philosophy of exploration and the history of the North Pole. His writings have also appeared in the Financial Times, The New York Times, and the Guardian.
New York Times has described Kagge as “a philosophical adventurer or perhaps an adventurous philosopher” and Financial Times as “something of a Renaissance man.”
