Neil Jordan


Neil Jordan was born in 1950 in Sligo, and is a novelist and film-maker. His first book of stories, Night in Tunisia, won the 1979 Guardian fiction prize, and his critically acclaimed novels include The Past, Sunrise with Sea Monster, Shade, and Mistaken. The films he has written and directed have won multiple awards, including The Crying Game, Michael Collins, The Butcher Boy, Mona Lisa, The End of the Affair. He lives in Dublin. He came to Borris in 2013 to take part in a ‘5×15 Story’, and then returned in 2015 to talk with Michael Cunningham and Ian McEwan on adapting books to films. In 2016 Bloomsbury published his highly anticipated chilling new crime novel The Drowned Detective.
